About Matt & Jen

The Story of Us…

…begins in the summer of 2003. We were introduced at a mutual friend’s house where Matt was helping install tile. There was an exchange of “Hi’s” and he was back to work. I don’t recall all my first encounters with the many people I’ve met, but there was something about Matt…the first thing that struck me about him was his eyes, how blue and beautiful they were. I’ve heard it said that “the eyes are the window to the soul”. (Matthew-6:22-23-The light of the body is the eye).

Our paths didn’t cross again until December, I had a computer problem and our friend suggested I call Matt who repaired computers. This time the conversation was longer than a ‘HI”. At the time he had a very thick New England accent (Boston, I think I just got used to it) and I still tease him about thinking he had a speech impediment. I can say that, because I still occasionally have my New York speech impediment. Anyway with that said your probably wondering Yankees or Red Sox…that’s another story.

About a month later we went on a group date with some friends, we spent the evening talking and getting to know each other. Then on March 4, 2004 we had our first official date. I picked the movie – (The Passion-who knew?), he picked the dinner spot. We hit it off and we’ve been inseparable ever since. I thank God everyday!

We were engaged on our first year anniversary. Matt called my dad to ask him for my hand in marriage. As the story goes, Matt called my Dad to ask him if he could give me a “ring”. Well if you don’t know my Dad his response to Matt will say it all…He said “Matt, if you want to “call” Jen, you don’t have to ask me”…After a minute of clarification, my dad gave the blessing. My parents couldn’t have been happier to welcome their “new son” to the family.

Since we both have a love for the beauty of the water and beaches, we decided on the Bahamas for the wedding location. We were married on February 4, 2006 at Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort in Nassau. Our parents and a few close friends made the journey, joining us in the celebration. The morning was overcast…we thought for sure it was going to rain… I spoke to the photographer after the ceremony she said that she could feel God’s presence because as our ceremony started the clouds went away and the sun came out.

(Malachi 2:15-You were united to your wife by the Lord. In God’s wise plan, when you married, the two of you became one)

As we celebrate our first year of wedded bliss…I am thankful that I was given this amazing gift. An intelligent, thoughtful, humble, generous, and humorous man. He has taught me to laugh more, live more, and love more.

And as life goes on I will add more to this story of us……

Love is Patient, Love is Kind, and is not jealous; Love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not rejoice in unrighteousness but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, endures all things.

(NAS: 1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
